Indications: Its principle constituents contain chebulagic, chebulinic acid and corilagin. Its fruits have laxative, stomachic, tonic and alterative properties. Its fleshy and ovoid fruit is astringent, tonic, purgative, carminative, alterative, stomachic, febrifuge, antiasthmatic.
 
Parts of Its Medical Uses:
a) Unripe fruit is antidysenteric, antipyretic, antiviral, coagulant and hypoglycemic.
 
b) Its fruit is used in hemorrhoids, sore throat, bleeding and ulcerated gums, and diseases of the spleen.
c) It is a gentle laxative that helps maintain regular bowel movements.
