Description: It is a kind of erect, terrestrial, perennial herb, normally about 30-90 cm. high. Its leaf has a simple, alternate and lanceolate shape with 12-15 cm. in width and 30-40 cm. in length. It has pale yellowish white flowers. It has a larger rhizome and leaf.

Indications: It is called white turmeric with strong aroma, The taste is rather bitter than the yellow one. Its essential oil has some importance for perfume and even more liquor industry. In Thailand, the young rhizomes are often eaten as a very aromatic vegetable, and it might be used in the preparation of curry pastes. The bitter herbs stimulate bile secretion and thereby aid digestion. The odour is camphoraceous, and the taste warm, aromatic, and slightly bitter, resembling ginger.
 
Parts of Its Medical Uses:
a) Its rhizome is antidiarrheal, antiemetic, antipyretic.
b) It is used internally to relieve stomach discomfort.
c) It is used externally as astringent for wounds.
d) It is useful in flatulent colic and debility of the digestive organs.
